Dear Kent Families,
I hope you are all enjoying the weather, and getting some outdoor time with your family. Thank goodness we can enjoy spring !
In an effort to keep us all healthy and safe, we will be extending our “stay at home” distance learning through May 15th, and possibly through the end of our academic year. It is my belief that rushing a re-opening at this stage is not in the best interest of ANYONE. Our community is still in serious stages of fighting the decline of the virus and our gathering at Kent would not be wise. IF conditions show a great positive trend, we can re-examine our time line. It would be amazing if we could gather to bring closure to the end of our year. FEAR NOT! Even if we do not gather on campus, we WILL have a Closing Ceremony. (Boy Scouts … get those uniforms ready !)
The beauty of our situation is that TEACHING and LEARNING continues! I am so proud of my students, staff and families for their commitment to KEEP KENT GOING! Lessons and meetings continue as usual. We will also have our annual Spirit Week ! Watch for details to come soon.
I continue to pray for all of you and your loved ones. I am thankful for all those who are helping in this fight. Doing OUR part is important so let’s keep learning and staying home!
In order to most effectively protect our families and campus from the COVID-19 pandemic, Kent Academy has implemented remote learning and working through May 1st, 2020. If improvement in our community becomes evident and the stay at home orders are lifted, we can amend our remote learning time frame.
Our Admissions Office is still open and operating virtually. Prospective families should email email@example.com with any questions or use this website to submit an online inquiry.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our families and community and we hope we can meet again before the school year ends!
Good Morning Kent Families,
We are back from Spring Break and teachers are working diligently to plan as we proceed in the education of your children. All of you have been sent information from your teachers and should have a plan in place. We are looking at an indefinite period of time away. It is our hope and prayers we will return to campus sometime in April but, as you know, this is a fluid situation. The health and safety of our Kent Family, and extended families, is most important. Meanwhile, we will continue daily instruction expectations Monday – Thursday 9-3.
Please maintain regular contact and communication with your teachers as they are the direct link to the expectations of your child. Attendance and grades will be maintained via distant learning. PLEASE communicate needs or concerns to your teaches as they arise. If we work as a team and maintain daily work, this process can run smoothly.
Extra Curricular hours will be adjusted according to the time we have away form campus and social activities. Do your best to maintain interesting activities and learning for your children. Some teachers have or will be sending links and interesting options for enrichment. The most important thing is to provide a regular routine school day and a working space for your child(ren).
We are a strong family and we will move through this and reunite and resume our learning here at Kent. Meanwhile, my prayers and thoughts are with you each day. We can do this !
Dear Kent Families,
We hope you are enjoying your spring break and finding time to be with your family. We are currently experiencing a unique challenge as we come together to minimize the potential effect of the COVID-19 pandemic in our country. I am so proud of how our faculty, staff, and families are coming together in this environment that is changing hourly.
Per direction from our Governor, and in an effort to curb the spread of COVID19 across the state, there will be NO SCHOOL for Kent Academy students March 23 through March 26. Staff will spend March 23rd preparing distant learning lessons and assignments for students. Materials and assignments will be available to pick up Monday, March 23rd during an extended normally scheduled afternoon pick-up time from 2:00-4:00. In respect of distancing ourselves, and creating the choice of an environment safe form harm, I will be on campus to distribute materials as needed and request that ONE parent or family member come into Kent to pick up materials. We continue to sanitize the campus and follow safety precautions for any staff or parent that will be on site.
Students are expected to complete assignments according to their teacher’s instructions. Attendance and grades will be dependent upon completion of such assignments. It is encouraged that you create a designated work space for your student to focus and complete their work.Teachers will be available for questions and assistance during the normal 9:00-3:00 instructional hours. Please maintain normal guidelines for communicating with teachers outside of these school hours. We are fortunate to be a small school with a great communication system already in place.
Please know that our leadership team continues to cover our families and community in prayer for health and well being during this time.
